Updated Mock Draft - 4/9
1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford - QB - Georgia
The selection here was a debate before the Cutler trade. Now, there are too many teams in the QB sweepstakes for Detroit to go with another pick here and hope to get a QB at their other spot in the first round (20) or with a trade up.2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith - OT - Baylor
The release of Orlando Pace determined this pick. It could be Eugene Monroe, who is the more natural blocker, but Smith is more athletic and interviewed very well at the combine.3. Kansas City - Aaron Curry - OLB - Wake Forest
Many teams rate Curry as the best player in the draft. The Chiefs won't pass him up.4. Seattle Seahawks - Malcolm Jenkins - CB/S - Ohio St.
Seattle is in a prime spot to trade down. One way or another, they will end up with Malcolm Jenkins filling their biggest need on defense.5. Cleveland Browns - Michael Crabtree - WR - Texas Tech
The Browns lost a major playmaker with the departure of Kellen Winslow. Crabtree is too good to pass up at this point.6. Cincinnati Bengals - Eugene Monroe - OT - Virgina Tech
With the loss of Stacy Andrews, this team is badly in need of an OT. The Bengals know their success depends on Carson Palmer, so they need to protect him.7. Oakland Raiders - Jeremy Maclin - WR - Missouri
The Raiders take the best WR on the board.8. Jacksonville Jaguars - B.J. Raji - DT - Boston College
Jacksonville missed Marcus Stroud last year. Raji will help make the entire defense better.9. Green Bay Packers - Brian Orakpo - DE/OLB - Texas
The Packers are shifting to a 3-4 and Orakpo fits in as a rush linebacker. Tyson Jackson will be considered.10. San Francisco 49ers - Andre Smith - OT - Alabama
Mike Singletary wants to establish a power run game to control the clock. To do that, the 49ers need a bookend opposite Joe Staley. Twill give a lot of thought to Mark Sanchez if he's still on the board.11. Buffalo Bills - Robert Ayers - DE - Tennessee
Lucky for the Bills, all of the top pass rushers are still on the board. The Bills are looking for a left DE in their 4-3, since Schobel mans the right spot, and for that position the Bills are looking for a DE with more size. Ayers fits the bill.12. Denver Broncos - Mark Sanchez - QB - USC
The Broncos will most likely have to move up to get Sanchez, but he will end up with the Broncos. After trading Cutler, the Broncos are armed with plenty of picks to move up in the draft and get Sanchez. Kyle Orton is not a long-term solution.13. Washington Redskins - Everette Brown - DE - Florida St.
Playing alongside Albert Haynesworth, this has the makings of a very good defensive line.14. New Orleans Saints - Brian Cushing - OLB - USC
Though the Saints have two returning starters at the position, neither Scott Fujita nor Scott Shanle are playmakers.15. Houston Texans - Vontae Davis - CB - Illinois
The Texans give up way too many big plays in the passing game. They would love if Malcolm Jenkins fell here.16. San Diego Chargers - Tyson Jackson - DE - LSU
17. New York Jets - Josh Freeman - QB - Kansas St.18. Denver - Chris Wells - RB - Ohio St.
19. Tampa Bay - Clay Matthews - OLB - USC20. Detroit Lions - Brandon Pettigrew - TE - Oklahoma St.

Updated Mock Draft - 4/5
1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford - QB - Georgia
The selection here was a debate before the Cutler trade. Now, there are too many teams in the QB sweepstakes for Detroit to go with another pick here and hope to get a QB at their other spot in the first round (20) or with a trade up.
2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith - OT - Baylor
The release of Orlando Pace determined this pick. It could be Eugene Monroe, who is the more natural blocker, but Smith is more athletic and interviewed very well at the combine.
3. Kansas City - Eugene Monroe - OT - Virgina Tech
Pioli loved to trade down in New England, and that's what he will try to do here as well. Other teams will be calling to move up and nab Sanchez, Monroe, Crabtree, or Raji. Pioli will jump at one of the teams' offers. If not, the choice is Monroe. He will pair with former teammate, Brandon Albert, and protect the big investment made in Matt Cassel.
4. Seattle Seahawks - Michael Crabtree - WR - Texas Tech
Even with the addition of T.J. Houshmandzadeh, the Seahawks could still use a WR. Branch, Engram (if he comes back), and Housh, are all over 30, and Housh doesn't have Chad Johnson on the other side of the field anymore. Seattle may also look to trade down.
5. Cleveland Browns - Aaron Curry - OLB - Wake Forest
The Browns need an OLB for Mangini's 3-4 defense. Curry, who many consider the best player in this draft, is a perfect addition. Orakpo might be the pick if Curry is off the board.
6. Cincinnati Bengals - Andre Smith - OT - Alabama
With the loss of Stacy Andrews, this team is badly in need of an OT. Based solely on film, Andre Smith is the best OT in this draft. The Bengals know their success depends on Carson Palmer, so they need to protect him.
7. Oakland Raiders - B.J. Raji - DT - Boston College
The Raiders had the second worst rush defense in the league last year, giving up 160 yards a game on the ground. Raji is the pick that makes sense, but Al Davis works in mysterious ways, so this pick is, as always, a wild card. Orakpo, Maclin, and Heyward-Bey are all options in the upside-down world that is Al Davis's mind.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Jeremy Maclin - WR - Missouri
The Jags haven't had a serious receiving threat since Jimmy Smith. They would love Crabtree to fall here, and he might, but if not, the pick is Maclin.
9. Green Bay Packers - Tyson Jackson - DE - LSU
The Packers are shifting to a 3-4 and Jackson is the best of the few 3-4 DEs in the draft. Orakpo will be considered at the OLB position, as will Malcolm Jenkins to play one of many positions in the secondary.
10. San Francisco 49ers - Michael Oher - OT - Mississippi
Mike Singletary wants to establish a power run game to control the clock. To do that, the 49ers need a bookend opposite Joe Staley. They would love if Andre Smith fell here, and they will give a lot of thought to Mark Sanchez if he's still on the board.
Ayers fits the bill.
12. Denver Broncos - Mark Sanchez - QB - USC
The Broncos will most likely have to move up to get Sanchez, but he will end up with the Broncos. After trading Cutler, the Broncos are armed with plenty of picks to move up in the draft and get Sanchez. Kyle Orton is not a long-term solution.
13. Washington Redskins - Brian Orakpo - DE/OLB - Texas
This will be a tough choice with Everette Brown still on the board. Orakpo offers slightly less of a pass rush, but is a much stouter run defender. Paired with Albert Haynesworth, this has the makings of a very good defensive line.
14. New Orleans Saints - Brian Cushing - OLB - USC
Though the Saints have two returning starters at the position, neither Scott Fujita nor Scott Shanle are playmakers.
The Texans give up way too many big plays in the passing game. They need help at both the CB and S positions, and Jenkins can play either.
16. San Diego Chargers - Rey Maualuga - ILB - USC
17. New York Jets - Percy Harvin - WR - Florida18. Denver - Everette Brown - DE - Florida St.
19. Tampa Bay - Josh Freeman - QB - Kansas St.
20. Detroit Lions - Clay Matthews - OLB - USC
22. Minnesota Vikings - William Beatty - OT - Connecticut
23. New England Patriots - Connor Barwin - DE/OLB - Cincinnati
24. Atlanta Falcons - Brandon Pettigrew - Oklahoma St.

27. Indianapolis Colts - Hakeem Nicks - WR - North Carolina
28. Philadelphia - Knowshon Moreno - RB - Georgia
29. New York Giants - Larry English - DE/OLB - Northern Illinois

Updated Mock Draft
Lions' new GM and Head Coach follow the path of Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano in Miami, rather than their counterparts in Atlanta. They select an anchor for their offensive line for the next decade, a la Jake Long, rather than rolling the dice with a less experienced and less mature, albeit stronger-armed, version of Matt Ryan.
2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith - OT - Baylor
One of the worst offensive lines in the league finds its heir apparent to the legendary but aging Orlando Pace.
3. Kansas City Chiefs - Michael Crabtree - WR - Texas Tech
A tug-of-war between Scott Pioli's preference to go defense and draft Aaron Curry and Todd Haley's offensive mindedness to select Michael Crabtree. In the end, Haley convinces Pioli that Crabtree just reminds him too much of a guy he coached last year in Arizona, Larry Fitzgerald.
4. Seattle Seahawks - B. J. Raji - DT - Boston College
A big defensive tackle who can take some pressure of Patrick Kerney and the Seahawks' first-round pick last year, defensive end Lawrence Jackson.
5. Cleveland Browns - Aaron Curry - OLB - Wake Forest
Cleveland cannot believe that Curry is available; a future Pro Bowler and immediate upgrade for this defense.
6. Cincinnati Bengals - Andre Smith - OT - Alabama
He may have gone to the combine a little out of shape, but he is a massive prospect with a solid college career.
7. Oakland Raiders - Jeremy Maclin - WR - Missouri
Al Davis just cannot resist playmakers, and Maclin has the rare speed and quickness to be just that.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Matthew Stafford - QB - Georgia
Jacksonville came into the draft with different plans, but they won't pass up on this talent at the eight-spot.
9. Green Bay Packers - Brian Orakpo - DE/OLB - Texas
Orakpo is a pass rusher who brings versatility and quickness to a defense that notched only 27 sacks last year.
10. San Francisco 49ers - Malcolm Jenkins - CB - Ohio State
The 49ers need help in the secondary and Jenkins can play either cornerback or safety.
11. Buffalo Bills - Brandon Pettigrew - TE - Oklahoma State
The Bills will welcome an upgrade to their run blocking as well as another target for Trent Edwards.
12. Denver Broncos - Tyson Jackson - DE/DT - LSU
Jackson is a massive DE who will shift inside for the 4-3 Denver defense, and take some pressure of Dumervil and Crowder.
13. Washington Redskins - Everette Brown - DE/OLB - Florida State
The Redskins need a pass rusher to complete their front seven attack after the addition of Albert Haynesworth.
14. New Orleans Saints - Brian Cushing - OLB - USC
The Saints are in desperate need for a leader on their defense. Cushing's upside is limited, but he should be a solid player who always comes prepared.
15. Houston Texans - Aaron Maybin - DE/OLB - Penn State
The Texans are attracted to young pass rushers (i.e., Mario Williams and Amobi Okoye). This should make life a little more difficult for Peyton Manning.
16. San Diego Chargers - Rey Maualuga - ILB - USC
This guy hits hard and fills a need between Phillips and Merriman.
17. New York Jets - Percy Harvin - WR - Florida
The Jets want to bring in a playmaker to add some explosiveness to their offense. Harvin reminds many of Desean Jackson.
18. Chicago Bears - Darius Heyward-Bey - WR - Maryland
The Bears are in need of a go-to receiver. Devin Hester and Rashied Davis aren't cutting it and Kyle Orton needs some help.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Knowshon Moreno - RB - Georgia
Tampa Bay hasn't had consistency at the running back position in years. Moreno has too much talent to pass up at this point.
20. Detroit Lions - Mark Sanchez - QB - USC
The lions pass on Stafford but pick up Sanchez later in the first round. They make have to trade up to actually make this happen.
21. Philadelphia Eagles - Michael Oher - OT - Mississippi
Andy Reid loves drafting lineman, and he loves benching them until they've had a chance to learn the ropes. This sounds like a perfect situation for the developing tackle from Ole Miss.
22. Minnesota Vikings - Vontae Davis - CB - Illinois
The Vikings need athleticism in their secondary and Davis is a physical freak.
23. New England Patriots - James Laurinaitis - ILB - Ohio State
The Pats love this smart, savvy, and instinctive linebacker. Reminiscent of Vrable and Bruschi.
24. Atlanta Falcons - Peria Jerry - DT - Mississippi
The O-line is solid, now they turn to the D-line where Jamaal Anderson could use a little help.
25. Miami Dolphins - Clay Matthews - OLB - USC
A natural pass rusher to play opposite Joey Porter.
26. Baltimore Ravens - Darius Butler - CB - Connecticut
The replacement for Chris McAllister.
27. Indianapolis Colts - Evander "Ziggy" Hood - DT - Missouri
The Colts can always use a run-stopper on their defense.
28. Philadelphia Eagles - Chris "Beanie" Wells - RB - Ohio State
The Eagles grab an alternative to the shake-and-bake style of Brian Westbrook with a large downhill runner in Wells.
29. New York Giants - Larry English - OLB - Northern Illinois
The Giants grab the best linebacker on the board. He's got a non-stop motor and can step in as defensive end if more injuries plague this team.
30. Tennessee Titans - Michael Johnson - DE - Georgia Tech
The Titans always seem to grab great athletes. Johnson is a physical freak, but is very inconsistent. Jeff Fischer believes he can get the best out of Johnson's endless potential.
31. Arizona Cardinals - Donald Brown - RB - Connecticut
Edgerrin James is aging and Tim Hightower did not show he could take the reigns. Brown could be the back of the future.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Eben Britton - OT - Arizona
Another blocker to protect Big Ben and push the pile for Willie Parker.
